be said to – „man sagt, dass …“ auf Englisch
In Nachrichten und Sachtexten liest du oft Informationen, deren Quelle gar nicht genannt wird: Man weiß, dass etwas berichtet oder vermutet wird, aber nicht genau, von wem. Für solche Sätze gibt es im Englischen eine feste Konstruktion mit be said to. Sie klingt sachlich und ist typisch für Wirtschaftsnachrichten, Zeitungsartikel und Berichte über Firmen und Länder. Wenn du sie sicher beherrschst, verstehst du englische Nachrichtentexte deutlich leichter.
1. Wozu benutzt man be said to?
Mit be said to berichtest du eine Information, ohne zu sagen, wer genau sie in die Welt gesetzt hat. Die Quelle bleibt bewusst offen – „man sagt“, „es heißt“. Das unterscheidet die Konstruktion von einem normalen Satz mit say, bei dem ein Sprecher genannt wird.

2. Bildung: Subjekt + be said to + Grundform
Für Aussagen mit Gegenwartsbezug bildest du den Satz so: Subjekt + is/are/am said to + Grundform (Infinitiv ohne weiteres to, da to schon Teil der Wendung ist). Die Form von be richtet sich dabei nach dem Subjekt.

Merke: be said to ist keine gewöhnliche Passivkonstruktion. Das normale Passiv beschreibt eine Handlung an einem Objekt (The cars are produced in India.). be said to dagegen berichtet eine Behauptung oder Information über das Subjekt, ohne die Quelle zu nennen.
3. Vergangenheitsbezug: be said to have + Partizip II
Bezieht sich die berichtete Information auf etwas, das schon geschehen ist, brauchst du be said to have + past participle. Die einfache Vergangenheitsform darf hier nicht stehen.

5. Die zweite Möglichkeit: It is said that …
Zu jedem Satz mit be said to gibt es eine gleichwertige Form mit It is said that + Nebensatz. Beide Formen bedeuten dasselbe; im Umformen tauschst du das Subjekt des Nebensatzes an den Satzanfang und ersetzt that durch be said to.

Merke: Beide Formen sind richtig und bedeuten das Gleiche. In Nachrichtentexten kommen beide vor – be said to wirkt oft etwas knapper und typischer für Schlagzeilen und Berichte.
