Es gibt dafür zwei Wege: will und going to.
1. Spontan entscheiden oder etwas vermuten: will
Dann nimmst du will.
| Gebrauch | Beispiel | Deutsch |
|---|---|---|
| Versprechen oder Angebot | I’ll bring some biscuits to the party. | Ich bring Kekse zur Party mit. |
| spontaner Entschluss | The bag is heavy. I’ll carry it for you. | Die Tasche ist schwer. Ich trag sie für dich. |
| Vermutung über die Zukunft | I think our team will win the match. |
Merke: Bei will hast du dich meistens noch nicht lange vorher überlegt. Der Gedanke kommt dir gerade erst, während du sprichst.
will bildest du mit will plus der Grundform des Verbs, ohne to. Das Wort will bleibt bei jeder Person gleich.
| Satzart | Beispiel |
|---|---|
| Aussage | I will join the choir. / I’ll join the choir. |
| Verneinung | She will not forget. / She won’t forget. |
| Frage | Will you help me carry these books? |
| Kurzantwort | Yes, I will. / No, I won’t. |
Merke: Nach will steht immer die reine Grundform, ganz ohne -s, -ed oder to. Die Verneinung won’t ist die Kurzform von will not.
2. Einen Plan schon haben: going to
Hast du dich schon vorher entschieden, oder zeigt dir eine Situation gerade jetzt schon, was gleich passiert? Dann nimmst du going to.
| Gebrauch | Beispiel | Deutsch |
|---|---|---|
| feste Absicht, schon geplant | We are going to visit the aquarium on Saturday. |
| sichtbares Anzeichen jetzt | Those clouds look dark, so it’s going to rain soon.
| Satzart | Beispiel |
|---|---|
| Aussage | I’m going to text Coby after lunch. |
| Verneinung | He isn’t going to join the trip. |
| Frage | Are you going to come to my party? |
| Kurzantwort | Yes, I am. / No, I’m not. |
Merke: Für Verneinung und Frage brauchst du kein zusätzliches Wort – die Form von to be (am/is/are) übernimmt diese Aufgabe ganz allein.
3. will oder going to?
Dann nimmst du going to. Dann nimmst du will. Vergleiche: I’m going to text Coby after lunch – das steht schon fest. The bell is ringing, I’ll answer it – das entscheidest du gerade spontan.
Hi Arlo, next week I’m going to visit your city with my class. We are going to stay near the harbour, and on the first day, we are going to walk around the old town. I think it will be very warm, so I’ll pack light clothes. My friend Etta says she will bring her camera. I’m sure we will have a great time! See you soon.
So planst du im Voraus mit going to und lässt trotzdem Raum für Vermutungen mit will.
Landeskunde: Charleston
„Hi, I’m Etta, and I live in Charleston, a city on the coast of South Carolina. Our street is full of old houses in pastel colours, and tourists take photos of them almost every day. Next weekend, my family is going to walk along the harbour and watch the boats.
In the old town, you can take a ride in a carriage pulled by a horse. The driver tells stories about the narrow streets and the gardens behind the houses. At the market, local craftspeople weave baskets out of sweetgrass, a plant that grows near the coast.
The weather here is mild, so people spend a lot of time outside. I think you will love the colourful houses and the smell of the sea!“
